What are the initials tests needed for an implants patients?
Initial tests are: blood tests, clotting time and a panorex
(panoramic "X" ray). In some other cases, it may also
be necessary computarized tomography, X ray of the donator area,
if required (for instance the iliac bone). Other diagnostic tools
at the Implant Dental Center of Guadalajara
are study casts mounted in the articulator; and some other times
periapical "X" rays.
It seems to me that I do not have enough bone. Can Dental Implants be
placed?
Yes. In these cases an orthopedic team
of surgeons headed by Dr. M. P. Malacon of the New Arboledas Hospital intervene
in a major surgery operation. They obtain the bone from a donator
zone (Iliac crest, fibula, etc.) This bone is then placed in the
mouth by the oral surgeon, Dr. Carlos Schwartz,
in the area where the dental titanium implants will be located.
Can I eat afterwards?
The first three days we
suggest only soft diet and liquids. When the gum has headled, you
can gradualy eat better. When your prosthesis has been constructed,
you will be able to eat nuts. If you need exact suggestions, we
can provide you with a cook book specially designed for implants
patients, "FROM SOUPS TO NUTS"
How are dental implants cleaned?
We will provide you with a video that
has information about cleaning instruccions and we will instruct
you personally. Also, we will schedule periodic appointments, where
we can professionally clean your dental
implants.
