Dear
Dr. Maite Moreno:
I
am writing this email letter to especially
thank you for the professional and courteous
services I received at your office.
First,
I have to admit that I went to Tijuana against
the advice of my friends who actually knew
nothing about the quality of the dental
services and/or the cleanliness and the safety
of Tijuana City. Always when I am getting
ready to take a trip to Mexico, China,
Thailand or wherever, my friends warn me that
the country is dangerous and I may not live to
get back home. But, because they are shooting
someone almost every day here in Sacramento, I
always tell them that I am on my way to a
safer city. As expected I found Tijuana a
modern, clean and interesting city and never
felt any concern at all for my safety.
Of
course, my friends also warned me that the
quality of the dental work in Mexico would be
questionable. My longtime, overpriced and
often aloof Sacramento dentist also tried to
scare me out of going to Mexico. That’s par
for the course here. But I found that you had
a Master of Science Degree from the University
of Michigan including a letter of commendation
from the head of the School of Dentistry,
Brian R. Lang, Professor Emeritus. I was
pleased to find that you further studied at
USC and had additional plaques from various
Mexican schools. You specialize in dental
implants which I assume is a step beyond
normal dentistry. I was further impressed that
you are making a presentation at the “Nobel
Biocare World Tour” convention in Mexico
City in July. To put things in perspective,
you are obviously more qualified than my
regular dentist, who warned me about the
dental services in Mexico.
Even
with the costs of flying from Sacramento to
Tijuana twice and the hotel bills, I saved
probably $2,500.00 U.S., which I can put to
good use otherwise. But it is not because of
the savings or the quality of the work that I
am writing this letter. I often find doctors
and dentists to wear that “professional
cloak of authority” that sort of says to
you, “I
am the superior one, treat me with utmost
respect”. In contrast, I found you to be
pleasant, considerate and concerned with my
well being. You even shared a lunch with me
and there was not even a hint of a superiority
complex. It is because I left your care with a
feeling that you were my friend as well as my
dentist that I am taking the time to write
you. I
hope you
have a wonderful time in Mexico City.
